BTR Trading Group specializes in the execution of algorithmic futures trading systems.

What is a trading system?
A trading system is simply a set of rules by which a trader enters and exits the market. These rules are typically determined by historical testing on market data (such as price, volume and time) and they issue new trading signals based on live market data. The order entry criteria can be simple or complex, but most utilize technical analysis of market data to derive their trading signals.

How does a trading system work?
Trading systems can take many forms, but most of them are programmed to issue trading signals via a trading platform. These platforms allow a trader to program his system so that it can analyze live market and issue trading orders in real time. BTR Trading Group maintains servers on which many strategies operate and issue trading signals, which are then converted into orders for our clients accounts. Some trading systems are not programmed to run on a computer and instead take the form of emails or other communications intended to advise clients to buy or sell a given commodity.

Why should I trade a futures trading system?
Utilizing a trading system offers several advantages and disadvantages. Trading systems enter trades based on objective rules and as a result are not subject to the oscillating emotions of the trader. One might be fearful of buying S&P futures when the market is down 30 points, but a trading system is not subject to fear. It simply evaluates data in order to issue a trade. Trading systems offer the discipline to take trades, but they do expose one to several types of risk.

What are the risks?
Futures are high risk instruments. Trading systems in futures markets exposes one to the all of the risks associated with these markets, which can be substantial. Because of the leverage offered by futures contracts (for example you only need to deposit $5,000 to control an asset with a notional value of $50,000), you may lose more than your initial investment.

Only risk capital should be invested. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. For a more complete discussion of the risks, please see our general risk disclosures for futures and options.
